The Traffic-Group at the Center for Parallel Computing (ZAIK) works simultaneosly on two traffic simulation software projects. On the one hand there is the software

  • FASTLANE which varies individual routes according to a given cost function by very fast iterative simulations of a Queueing-car following model until the system reaches the Dynamic User Equilibrium, i.e. all routes are time optimized, and on the other hand the program

  • PLANSIM-T which distinguishes itself by the possibility of easily modifying of car following models and individual routing with coveal traffic calculation on a very high level of detail. The routes computed by FASTLANE can be used as input to study the traffic behaviour on a more microscopic level.

    PLANSIM-T is no longer supported.. The sources of the software are now part of the Open-Source Project SUMO (Simulation of Urban MObility). The software is further developed together with theInstitut für Verkehrsforschung (DLR).
