FRICO 2015 (Cologne)

FRICO 2015 - 19th Workshop on Future Research in Combinatorial Optimization

FRICO 2015 took place from Tuesday, the 11th, to Friday, the 14th of August 2015 at the Department of Computer Science of the University of Cologne.

From our point of view the workshop was very successful and we thank our industry partner Siemens for their support. We had many great talks and enjoyable get-togethers in the evenings. Thanks to all participants again and see you in Osnabrück next year!

FRICO2015

Best Talk Award

This year Ivo Hedtke got the award for the best talk at the workshop

Workshop for young researchers

The workshop aims at bringing together young researchers and encouraging the exchange of new ideas. FRICO is intended to be a workshop in the original meaning of the word. We encourage the submission and presentation of own results (even work containing gaps and unsolved problems) from various areas of combinatorial optimization.

In the past, there were presentations concerning the following topics:
  • Discrete Mathematics und Combinatorics
  • Design and Analysis of Algorithms
  • Linear, Semidefinite and Mixed Integer Nonlinear Programming
  • Mathematical Programming Software
  • Applications of Combinatorial Optimization
  • Approximation Algorithms
To enable students and young researchers without major financial backing to participate at FRICO, participation is free of charge. Participants will only have to cover their travel and accommodation expenses.

As mentioned above, FRICO aims mostly at young researchers (students, PhD students and postdocs).

Similar to last years' FRICO, we plan to have an industry day where practitioners from industry will highlight the application of combinatorial optimization in practice.

FRICO 2015 is the 19th workshop in a sequence of successful meetings. See the location of previous FRICOs in the history.
